The award ceremony for the Innovation by Design Challenge (launched by ECAL, HEIG-VD, EPFL, the City of Renens, Innovaud and Les Ateliers of Renens) took place on the 19th of November with more than 200 attendees. Two winners tied for the jury's award: Nebulo Systems (anti-theft system) and Pneumoscope (intelligent stethoscope for respiratory diseases). The audience voted for "Codex D." (interactive museum guide) for the "Coup de Cœur" Award.
For this edition, 5 companies from Vaud and 10 designers solved entrepreneurial problems through 4 thematic workshops. Collaborative work between entrepreneurs and designers handled several design aspects and allowed them to achieve, in a short time, tangible results by improving user's experience, communicating added value of the product / service, or even by adjusting their business model. This 3rd edition has also been a springboard for young companies and designers who can pursue their collaboration in a long term perspective. This year, the jury (made up of Mr. Jean-François Clément - Syndic of Renens, President of the Jury, Mr. Vito Vita - President of the Municipal Council of Renens, Mr. Alexis Georgacopoulos - ECAL Director, Mr. Matthieu De Lapparent - Director of the IDE Institute / HEIG-VD , Ms. Caroline Graf - Innovaud Project Manager, Mr. Simon Johnson - EPFL Business Consultant, Ms. Zina Winnaretta Singer - Head of the EHL Innovation Cluster) chose two projects who tied. The sum of 8,000 francs was thus shared between Nebulo-systems and Pneumoscope, which both won the jury's prize. As for the "Coup de Cœur" Award, the public voted for Codex D. which receives an amount of 3,000 francs. Innovaud has been a partner of the Innovation By Design Challenge since its creation in 2017 with, every year, an Innovation Advisor in the jury. As part of this partnership, Innovaud edited and produced videos of the 2019 Challenge winners.
