Energy efficiency doesn’t just involve the habits and behaviour
of individuals; technological progress is also key, and the canton
of Vaud is a hotbed of energy innovation.

The goal of energy efficiency is to reduce the energy consumption required for lighting, heating and travelling, all while maintaining a high level of service – a regular supply, secure infrastructures, and reliability in terms of equipment and service to individuals, companies and public institutions. Rather than simply increasing energy production, energy efficiency shifts the focus onto lowering consumption through technological innovation. This approach is a cornerstone of Switzerland’s Energy Strategy 2050.

In this context, artificial intelligence (AI), among other technologies, can be a catalyzer in the development of energy efficiency. In the canton of Vaud in particular, local and foreign companies active in sustainable technologies find an attractive ecosystem to innovate and collaborate. Vaud is one of the best innovation-driven regions in Europe, offering researchers, entrepreneurs and investors an attractive framework thanks to the shared support of public authorities, the research sector, large companies and startups.
