Y-PARC

Y-PARC is Switzerland's leading technopark. It houses over 170 companies with some 1,600 employees and spans more than 50 hectares.

Y-PARC is a center of excellence for cybersecurity, precision industries and medtech and offers a comprehensive range of office solutions, including buildable land for purchase, rental premises and a business incubator. It also provides support and guidance to startups and to high valued-added SMEs and multinationals.

This ecosystem is designed to foster business development and innovation, drawing on its close ties with the applied R&D institutes at the School of Business and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD) and through the support it provides to its business partners.

Going forward, Y-PARC has the capacity to host over 9,000 employees and offers numerous expansion opportunities.

Tech platforms and partnerships

Y-PARC's main academic partner is HEIG-VD, which has over 2,000 students and researchers and 13 R&D institutes, including:

- The Institute for Information and Communication Technologies (IICT): This is the school's largest research institute and covers IT and telecommunications.

- The Health Engineering & Economics Group: This group created the Engineering & Health platform in collaboration with the University of Health Sciences (HESAV).

Y-PARC is equipped with all the requisite amenities, including meeting rooms, cafeterias, mobility solutions and other services that allow for a comfortable work environment.

What's more, the technopark will soon have a multi-purpose service center with a gym, entrepreneur area, co-working spaces, e-learning and training facilities, shops, restaurants and daycare.

Business services

Y-PARC Swiss Technopole SA serves as the one-stop shop and facilitator for any investment or business-creation or business-development project at the technopark.

The Y-START incubator offers turnkey office solutions, providing either private premises (15–30m2) or co-working spaces within the Tech Ranch, with access to all on-site amenities, such as the internet, a cafeteria, conference rooms and printers. On top of this all-inclusive offer, workshops, networking events, recreational activities and customized coaching by experts from a range of industries are also on offer to startups hosted by the incubator.

Who's here already

Startups, SMEs and multinationals are all present in the technopark, which caters to each group's specific needs.

Businesses get direct access to HEIG-VD's highly qualified staff and their technical, scientific and business know-how. Finally, an array of internationally renowned universities are located within a 50km radius: Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO), IMD business school and the University of Neuchâtel (UNINE).

Glass manufacturer Schott Suisse SA has been at the technopark since 1998.

Conditions

Y-PARC hosts tech companies involved in applied R&D and manufacturing projects. Each application to join the technopark is analyzed by a dedicated committee, which checks whether the company meets the criteria set out in the partial land allocation plan.

The Y-START incubator is available to companies that are less than a year old. They must be active in a scientific or tech sector and have teamed up with a teaching and research institution.

Y-PARC is located in Yverdon-les-Bains, which is strategically located at the crossroads of Switzerland's main road and rail networks.

• By car: take the "Yverdon-Sud" exit at the intersection of the A1, A5 and A9 motorways.
• By public transport: 2km from the train station; buses to and from Y-PARC run every 15 minutes.
• By plane: Geneva airport is an hour’s drive away.
