Sunstar

This Japanese group which is active in consumer goods, in particular oral hygiene products, established premises at the Littoral Parc in Etoy in 2009. The similarities between Switzerland and Japan were one of the reasons why the company chose to set up its head-quarters on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Ferring Pharmaceuticals

A biopharmaceutical company which develops and markets solutions in the sectors of reproductive and maternal health, urology, gastroenterology, and endocrinology. It was originally founded in Sweden and set up business in the Vaud municipality of Saint-Prex in 2006.

Cla-Val

Cla-Val is a pioneer in the production, sale, and maintenance of automatic control valves. The company set up its European center in Lausanne in 1983, and over the years its area of expertise has extended to the fire protection, marine, and aviation sectors.

CISCO

This US giant which specializes in network equipment has been based in Rolle since 2007. The group also has a development unit within the EPFL Innovation Park and is anticipating widespread digital disruption across all sectors of industry.

Audemars Piguet

This prestigious watch manufacturer was created in 1875 in Le Brassus and has built a reputation the world over for its complex mechanisms. It remains ahead of the competition thanks to its use of hi-tech materials and research into ever more advanced mechanisms, combining technology with tradition.

Becton Dickinson

Generating annual revenue of over $16 billion, Becton Dickinson chose in 2016 to set up its European headquarters in the Canton of Vaud. The giant employs over 250 highly skilled people and is a leading player in Health Valley.

APCO Technologies

Since establishing itself in Aigle in 2008, APCO Technologies has enjoyed significant growth in the space, energy and heavy industry sectors. The family-run business has gone from strength to strength, and now works with the Swiss Space Center and on the European Ariane 6 rocket.

SICPA

This company specializes in security and is developing solutions to authenticate and identify products and protect identity papers. It has established itself as the world’s premier supplier of ultra-securitized ink for bank notes.

Chiquita

In 150 years, Chiquita has established itself as the world’s leading banana producer. Since its head office moved to the canton of Vaud, the group has been promoting sustainable, organic farming.

Bobst

Founded in 1890 in Lausanne, Switzerland, BOBST is one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and services for substrate processing, printing and converting for the label, flexible packaging, folding carton and corrugated industries. The business unit is present in more than 50 countries, has 14 production sites in 8 countries and employs more than 5,600 people worldwide.

Incyte

Incyte Biosciences International Sàrl, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Lausanne, Switzerland, is an integrated global oncology company focused on transforming the lives of cancer patients with leading-edge medicines. It is working on new medicines to advance the treatment of various forms of acute and chronic leukemia, lung cancer and other difficult-to-treat cancers.

Merck develops advanced treatments in the canton of Vaud. Now, the German multinational plans to expand its production capacity in the region.

Objectis: facilitate and support the digitization of companies

"Specialized in industrial IT and passionate about new technologies": these are the first words of Christopher Bouzas, co-founder and CEO of Objectis, a company based in Yverdon-les-Bains. KOMP-ACT: Electrifying industries from ground to sky

Actuators are the unsung heroes of the manufacturing industry. These little powerhouses work behind the scenes to activate moving parts in equipment ranging from food-packaging machines and robotic arms to the landing gear on airplanes. But surprisingly for the digital age, the technology in use today hasn’t changed since the 1920s: pneumatic devices running on compressed air. KOMP-ACT’s electric actuators are set to change all that – and slash companies’ operating costs by a factor of ten.

Lunaphore has developed a device used to analyze and identify cancerous tissue in less than 15 minutes. The startup plans to market its technology to hospitals and research labs.

Golden Chlorella : une micro-algue protéinée dans votre assiette

Promouvoir une alimentation saine tout en préservant l’environnement. Telle est l’ambition de Golden Chlorella, une entreprise fondée en septembre 2016 par Mine Uran et Majbrit Byskov-Bridge. Au cœur de leur innovation : une micro-algue riche en protéines, en minéraux et en vitamines. « Mine a étudié plus de 2'500 sources de micro-algues avant de se lancer dans la production de la Golden Chlorella, indique Nina Müller, chef de développement produits. Cette micro-algue possède des propriétés exceptionnelles, qui en font une source de nutri-ment naturelle et complète. »

PSI Audio : l’innovation du son analogique

This small business currently manages three data centers, including the largest in Switzerland, in the Nyon region. The company is expanding, with its mission being to meet all data storage needs across the board.

Sophia Genetics

This company is a pioneer in personalized genetic medicine, breaking down and analyzing patients’ molecular data and then providing a diagnostic and suggesting personalized treatment. This particularly applies to cancers and various hereditary illnesses.

SenseFly

SenseFly is based in Cheseaux and has enjoyed rapid growth to become the world leader in drones for professional usage. Its products can map large areas with high precision and in 3D, as well as inspect buildings and works of art.

Predictive Layer

Predictive Layer’s mission is to provide leading services in automated predictive analysis. The company uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to process client information and correlate it with open data to establish short-term forecasts.

MindMaze is a spin-off from the EPFL which has revolutionized neurological treatment. The start-up’s neurological retraining system is behind its rise to prominence in the unicorn category, i.e., new companies worth over a billion dollars.

Leclanché

This company has long been the jewel in the crown of Swiss industry and is one of the world leaders in energy storage solutions, particularly for renewable energies.

Green Motion

This business is a pure player active in charging facilities for electric vehicles and has a complete range of home and public stations. This company is anticipating 4% of all cars in Switzerland to have converted to this system by 2020.

Elite

This mattress manufacturer has been established in the canton of Vaud since 1895 and has innovated by means of a rental solution for beds and mattresses based on usage called "Smart Lease." Other projects are currently being worked on, including "the digital concierge" which is being developed in conjunction with the School of Management and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD).

ecoRobotix

This company has designed a robot which can detect and eliminate weeds using a camera which scans the various crops. The device is also capable of navigating autonomously in between rows of crops.

CleanGreens

CleanGreens uses new environmentally-friendly technologies including a mobile aeroponic system that is unique in the world. Lettuce and aromatic herbs are sprayed with water and nutrients using retractable vertical nozzles.

Abionic

This Vaud-based medtech company uses nanofluidic technology to speed up the blood-test process and get quicker medical diagnostics. Founded in 2010, Abionic is a rapidly-developing start-up that is now looking to expand its horizons internationally.
